MUD32 - Personal MUD Server

Overview | Specifications | Download | ScreenShots

Now Web Based!

I've started playing with porting the game concept to a web based interface - at the moment you can wander around the world, pick up items, and build up your score. I plan to add in point & click conversations with game characters, rudimentary turn based combat, and support for more complicated puzzle solving.

Anyway if you want to have a wander around the web version it can be found here.

Overview

MUD32 is a Freeware Open Source MUD Server for Windows. It has been designed from scratch and has not been ported from any other stock MUD release.

MUD32 is not themed, nor does it force a certain style. If you want to easily run your own customised MUD server on Windows, then MUD32 is for you. With its Unzip and Run ethos, you can have your own MUD up and running within a few minutes of downloading MUD32. No pre-compiling, and no learning of script languages required.

If you have any questions about MUD32, please feel free to contact me, and I'll do my best to answer your questions.

Development Status

I do not intend to work on MUD32 any further. As the source is freely available on the MUD32_Download page, I encourage anyone who is interested in expanding the capabilities of MUD32 to do so.

Going forward I have a long term plan to develop a 3D graphical MMORPG - but for a smaller playerbase, I have coined this concept as SMOG (Small Multiplayer Online Game). SMOG32 is still in the early stages of planning, and will have an online presence once I have reached the alpha testing phase.

May I say thank you to all those who have helped and encouraged with the development of MUD32 over it's 9 year evolvement. I never thought that I'd pull off a fully functional MUD code base when I started this project, but I'm glad I managed it. MUD32 helped me to develop my coding skills from bloody awful to near-professional levels, and I hope that it has helped others in a similar way.

Nice program, I really like it.But there is a lack of helpfiles on the net, tried forums and google, but cant find anyusefull information on how to mod and make my own muds. I guess you know where I can find ahandy compilation of help-files?Have a nice day!Regards JulianNorway

There isnt a lot for helpfiles... a lot of it is fairly self explanatory in the code if you have programming skills.I've been realllly busy with school, but i am still going to continue work on www.rpmud.com when i'm out.You can take a look there as there are some mods to the code already...Besides that, keep making comments if you need to and we'll try to answer when we can.

Found this at, mm 2:30am, exactly what this non-programmer but quick to learn in editors was looking for.. :) Hopefully I don't break it :)I obviously coudn't find any helpfiles either, and wasn't exactly sure what I was clicking at at first, but this will work out great for my needs. :)

I've looked through your code alot and it is by far the best mud done in visual basic 6. I plan on messing around with this a lot and see what happens. Check out www.caimen.org and maybe I might put something up.

You have no idea how much I want to thank you, words can't express it. The unzip and run concept model really takes the headache out of MUD engines for us beginners. I really owe you a debt of gratitude. Hopefully this will be my first step into the MUD world, the first of many. I owe it all to you, again, my thanks!
