Zune and Royale Noir and Royale Blue Themes For Windows XP
If you search the web for Royale Noir Theme you get a lot of hits. Mostly these are people all linking back to either royale_noir.rar or royale_remixed_146.msi . There is a problem with both of these archives, meaning that for most of us, they just don't work .
royale_noir.rar is the original leaked theme from Microsoft, it's missing the .theme file that you need for it to be correctly listed in Display Properties. It also doesn't play well with the original Royale/Energy Blue theme that some people have ripped from either Media Center XP or Tablet PC XP.
royale_remixed_146.msi also has its problems. Although I commend the original author for padding out the Royal Noir theme and filling in the blanks, the downside of this extra work is that you need to hack your Windows XP theme DLL to get it to work. Now I don't know about you, but I kinda like my core Windows DLLs to remain unhacked, if you don't mind.
What's on this page ?
The theme pack presented here contains the original Royal Noir as leaked from Microsoft, plus the original Royale/Energy Blue and also the new Microsoft approved Zune theme. Again, Microsoft's original Zune Theme installer doesn't work if you have Royale installed. This has been fixed in this version.How to install
1. Simply download the zip file and unzip into c:\windows\resources\themes.2. Goto Display Properties, and click on the Themes tab, then select from 'Royale Noir', 'Energy Blue' or 'Zune'.
3. That's it!
(NB. I'm not supplying this as an installer exe or msi, as I feel that you should know what files it's adding, hence the requirement for you to manually extract the contents of the zip file)
